I was struck and moved by the POWER in the room, especially when we moved into the group portion of the dance. I think most of us as women feel fairly small in one way or another as we move through our lives in a world where we’re barely recognized; we restrict and constrict our Selves. (But together, as a group,) there was nothing that could have entered that space that we couldn’t have dealt with. We were (are) a force to be reckoned with and we keep each other safe.

Summertime on my hammock, dreaming up "Sundays with the Muse".

Dear friends,

I hope you are enjoying your summer so far. Ya, I know it hasn't been particularily hot and it definitely has been wet here in Toronto, but I am still grateful for this time, regardless. Summer is my season and I am not going to complain!
For me, as long as it's warm enough to throw a sarong around me, and to curl up in my hammock in the backyard, I am a happy camper.  I love my quite time on the hammock. It's my summer "ME" time -- a sweet sanctuary from the to-do list, chores, emails and responsibilities, where I can intentionally dream and muse in a calm, receptive space of creative flow. During one of my hammock-lounging moments, a beautiful idea came to me.  Below, taken from my latest newsletter, I share what it was that I birthed. Enjoy, and please feel free to comment.

Q: What do you get when you gather together storytelling, dance & movement, martial art, divination, drumming, yoga, expressive art, belly laughter, meditation, shamanic ritual, divine feminine mythology, body-centered and psycho-spiritual explorations, and more?

A: You get “Sundays with the Muse”, a collaborative SERIES of 9 experiential workshops by 9 inspirational women. (Remember the 9 Muses?) Let me explain........

Bill Plotkin asks in his brilliant book 'Nature and the Human Soul', “If your only criterion were to deliver your soul gift to your people as magnificently and fully as possible, how would you do it?”

My answer to that question has clearly been, and still is, Dance Our Way Home, but lately I have felt a strong calling to create something new -- a collaborative model of women sharing authentic wisdom and exquisite experiences, as well as building beautiful community. And so, “Sundays with the Muse” has been born! (Right now I feel like Brigit, the Celtic Goddess of Inspiration, with fiery creative flames erupting from the top of my head.)

“Sundays with the Muse” will be a series of workshops for women held on 9 consecutive Sundays this fall (October 4 - November 29) at the Dovercourt House, 3rd floor, from 2:30-5:30pm.  I will introduce and showcase 8 talented women who I personally and professionally adore.  They will offer their soul gifts to you through their own unique magic and medicine, in a rainbow of modalities, teachings and experiences for your body, mind, heart & soul. I, too, will be on the roster with a new workshop entitled “Awakening Aphrodite”.

Each 3 hour workshop will stand alone and can be taken individually, however, if you choose to come to most or all of the workshops, you will receive the benefits of a balanced, beautifully woven journey touching all realms of possibilities, from head to toe, heart to soul.

And, you are going to love this ---- the cost for all workshops is ‘Pay-What-U-Want’, meaning, pay what feels right for you at the end of each workshop. No minimum. No maximum. This is as good as it gets!

I can’t tell you anymore right now but I wanted to give you a heads up so you can reserve in your calendar as many Sundays in October and November as you can. I feel quite confident that you will want to attend at least ONE of these workshops, if not all.

Keep your eyes out for the full schedule and details for “Sundays with the Muse” coming your way soon. Think about going with a few friends and making it an outing. If you know women who you feel would love to know about this series please ask them to email me and I’ll gladly add them to my contact list. This is going to be something NOT to miss!
